I read an article about a woman named Mary, who works at S.E.T.I (search for extra-terrestrial intelligence). I imagined a story in which she finally receives that message she's been waiting for all her life...except when she receives it, it is in the form of a single question: 'are you ready?" She is then faced with a decision...are we really ready for this? Perhaps not. So how does she respond to the query from the stars? We can only imagine...musically it features a funky bass line that winds it's way underneath an ethereal and heavily processed guitar, joined by a triple layer of my voice singing "are you ready." Our "alien" then overlays this with a spoken discourse describing his inner musings. The song is accentuated by an acrobatic and elastic guitar solo, paired with a dirty and complex bass breakdown. Things wrap up with a vintage poly synth melody. I love this one!
